As an illustration, in Congo, screening for sleeping sickness is done with the Trypanosoma gambiense antibody test, jointly developed by the Instituut voor Tropische Geneeskunde in Antwerpen (ITG) and apDia, supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The goal: no less than the total eradication of this fatal disease threatening the lives of many people in central Africa.
